About Colorectal Unit 

The Colorectal Unit provides adult Colorectal services to Dandenong, Clayton, Casey, Cranbourne and Moorabbin. The unit is staffed with 9 consultants, 2 fellows, 3 registrars, 2 HMOs and 5 interns. The Colorectal unit carries out more than 400 major colorectal resections a year for malignant and benign conditions as well as managing a range of anorectal conditions. It has a well-established colorectal cancer multi-disciplinary team to manage complex colorectal cancers. The unit is accredited by the Colorectal Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ) to train post-fellowship surgeons in Colorectal Surgery. The unit is also accredited to train 2 SET trainees from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS).  It also has a dedicated research fellow supporting the units clinical research activities. 

 

About the Role 

This position is a fractional fixed term position for 27.75hrs per week. 

The role will support and assist the Director of Colorectal Surgery, Monash Health in the provision of high quality care at Monash Health sites, consistent with the Monash Health values.  The incumbant will also: 

  • Provide clinical leadership through active involvement in patient care. 

  • Be available to medical colleagues for consultation and liaison as appropriate regarding patient care. 

  • Support academic, research, education, training & supervision (both undergraduate and postgraduate) roles 

  • Contribute to the professional and corporate life in Victoria's largest public health service by participation in appropriate committees and educational platforms. 

  • Contribute to ongoing service improvement and clinical and workforce innovation to ensure Monash Health provides high quality accessible healthcare 

What you need: 

  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) 

  • Appropriate health professional tertiary qualifications 

  • Fellowship of the RACS or equivalent 

  • Membership with RACS and CSSANZ
