About Monash Emergency

Monash Health Emergency Services comprises the five Emergency Departments of Monash Health, Monash Medical Centre Emergency Department, Monash Children’s Hospital ED, Dandenong Hospital ED, Casey Hospital ED, and Victorian Heart Hospital ED, which together treat over 225,000 patients per annum. 

 

The Monash Toxicology Unit

The unit has been active since 2012 and is accredited by the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine for advanced registrar training special skills in toxicology. The unit provides toxicology consultations across all Monash Health campuses, including the five emergency departments and five intensive care units across the acute hospitals.The unit is a part of the Victorian, Austin, Monash, Poisons Information Research and Education (VAMPIRE) collaboration. The toxicologists, fellows and registrars all participate in providing clinical toxicology consultations to the Victorian Poisons Information Centre (VPIC). The unit is involved in local and collaborative research endeavours and provides toxicology teaching to ED/ICU/general medical junior medical staff and emergency / ICU nursing staff across all campuses.

 

 

About the role

This is a unique opportunity for one emergency physician to join the Monash Toxicology Unit and undertake a 2 year, part-time fellowship in clinical toxicology with a view to recognition as a clinical toxicologist in Australia and also join the Monash Emergency consultant team to provide emergency medicine services part-time at one of our EDs. The fellowship will fulfill the current two-year VPIC and TAPNA pathway to be considered a clinical toxicologist (FTAPNA) in Australia.
