We are seeking an experienced and mental health Peer Worker to join our Lived Experience Leadership team as a Peer Work Supervisor for Community Services. This is a full-time ongoing position based in Dandenong and working across all communty sites that employ Peer Workers.

About the Lived Experience Leadership Team
Our Lived Experience Workforce (LEW) Leadership team currently consists of 7 Peer Work Leads and 2 Senior Consultants, led by an Operations Manager. The team is based in Dandenong, and provides leadership to the LEW of 50+ Peer Workers and Lived Experience Consultants working across the Mental Health Program. About the Role
This role is reposible for working in collaboration with community mental health team managers to support the recruitment and induction of peer workers across our community services. The role is also responsible for supporting community-based peer workers to develop the professional practice skills required to undertake thier role, through the provision of mentoring, supervison, and identification of professional development needs. This role also involves undertaking a range of quality improvement activities to embed the Lived Experience discipline within the mental health program. This position is based in Dandenong and operates Monday to Friday, with the opportuity for some hybrid working arrangements (which may change in future), and the successful applicant will need to have access to their own vehicle to travel between sites.
About You
As a designated consumer lived experience role, you will have a declared personal experience of living with mental illness, and experience of the mental health system.
You possess a deep understanding of mental health challenges through your own lived experience as a consumer and are passionate about supporting others. You have a genuine commitment to enhancing the lives of individuals with mental health difficulties and their carers. With a strong focus on inclusion, diversity, and person-centred care, you bring excellent communication and interpersonal skills to your work. Your enthusiasm, compassion, and ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team set you apart. You are driven to pursue a meaningful and purposeful career, with a desire to grow as a lived experience leader. As an experienced peer worker, you are dedicated to fostering reflective practice in collaboration with others.
What You Need:
To ensure your success in this role you will demonstrate the following key skills, experience and knowledge (see attached Position Description for a complete list of requirements):
- Declared personal experience of living with mental illness, including experience as a mental health service user.
- Ability to use your own lived experience to inspire hope in belief and recovery.
- Knowledge of peer work principles and the ability to support others from a mutual perspective.
- Completion of Intentional Peer Support (IPS) training.
- A Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work or similar qualification.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a peer worker or equivalent role is desirable.
- Experience of providing consumer perspective reflective supervision
- Experience in mentoring and coaching others
