About the Role - Dental Assistant (Part Time Ongoing, Fridays ONLY)
We are currently seeking a highly motivated experienced dental assistant who enjoys being part of a dynamic work environment to join our team. As part of the Monash Health Dental Assisting team, Dental Assistants contribute to the delivery of high quality, efficient and effective clinical care. The Dental Assistant will be responsible for clinical assistance, demonstrating teamwork and infection control awareness.
You will work in a variety of settings, including Smile Squad and you will also work in the fixed Community Dental Agency clinics. Reporting to the Team Coordinator, you will work closely with a committed and passionate team. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Provide efficient clinical chairside assistance
- Maintain infection control standards
- Assist in the provision of oral health education and promotion
- Provide support to the Team Leader and Smile Squad Senior Dental Assistant, to ensure efficient operational management of the program including monitoring and managing the supply and rotation of consumables and instruments
- Facilitate patient flow by communicating with patients and clinical staff
About the Role - Senior Dental Assistant (Full Time Ongoing)
The key objective of this role is to provide high quality and efficient administration support to Monash Health Dental Services Smile Squad Program including outreach programs. The role will also be required to possess skills to enable backfilling as a Dental Assistant on a needs basis. This role will suit someone with a warm disposition, an attention to detail and a proven track record of delivering exceptional care and customer service. Reporting to the Team Coordinator, you will work closely with a committed and passionate team. You will be the first point of contact for maintenance of the Smile Squad vehicles, equipment breakdowns and coordination of dental outreach. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Maintenance of Smile Squad Vehicles
- Maintenance of equipment, coordination of equipment breakdowns
- Equipment Inventory
- Work Directions for Smile Squad
- Undertake collection and coordination of relevant client related data entry
- Timely and accurate entry of consents into the software to ensure that clinical staff can deliver clinical care
- Contribute to smooth functioning of the dental program/s by through the provision of high quality administrative support.
- Coordination of dental outreach screenings including scheduling, communication with stakeholders
- Administration support required to operate the Smile Squad Dental Program
- As required provide efficient clinical chair-side assistance in accordance with Monash Health and public dental clinical standards.
- Provide support and assistance to fellow team members and Team Leader as required
- Act in the Team Coordinator role when required
- Maintain infection control standards
- Managing appointments and systems
- Scanning, filing and faxing confidential documents
- Making appointments in person and over the phone
About You/ Your Skills & Experience
To be considered for this important role you will ideally possess the following:
- Certificate III in Dental Assisting (essential)
- Certificate IV in Oral Health Promotion
- good organisational skills and a positive, enthusiastic attitude towards work
- Experience in working with a variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment and getting results achieved within designated time with minimal supervision
- a full understanding of infection control procedures and tracking systems
- thorough and extensive knowledge of dental procedures
- a friendly, outgoing and reliable demeanour
- strong communication and relationship skills
- well-developed clinical and administrative skills
- Previous experience with Titanium or Unity software would be an advantage but is not mandatory.
