About the Role:
Join our team as a Food Services Assistant (FSA) on a part time ongoing basis to work at Dandenong Hospital.
Being part of the Support Services team and reporting to the Food Services Manager, FSA’s play a vital role in providing high-quality meal services to patients and supporting overall patient nutrition. FSA’s are responsible for the preparation and delivery of meals, maintaining of food service areas, all whilst ensuring patient’s dietary needs are met accurately and efficiently. FSA’s contribute to patient care by ensuring meals are delivered on time, safely, accurately and in line with Monash Health’s values.
Key responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Distributing and collecting meals to and from service areas
- Preparing meals in line with production and clinical needs, including special functions
- Maintaining clean and safe food preparation and service areas.
- Operating dishwashers and other food service equipment safely and efficiently
- Restocking pantries and trolleys; whilst maintaining food stock levels as required
- Completing all food safety and cleaning documentation accurately and in a timely manner

About You:
To ensure your success in this role, you will bring experience in food services within a hospital, aged care, or hospitality setting with strong demonstrated knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene standards. You have a passion for patient care and nutrition, ensuring patients are treated with respect and empathy. You are a reliable and punctual team member with great verbal and written communication skills; and intermediate computer skills. Whether you work independently or as part of a team; you always follow manual handling, safety protocols, and procedural instructions. It would be an advantage if you also have comprehensive understanding of diet codes, texture modified foods and fluids, food allergies and intolerances.
You are also required to hold basic food safety qualification in food handing:
HLTFSE001: Follow basic food safety practices or SITXFSA001: Use hygienic practices for food safety
