Our Journey

The Mental Health Intellectual Disability Initiative - Adults (MHIDI-A)/Stronger together team is part of the Casey Adult Mental Health program and is located in Thomas Street, Dandenong.  We provide consultation, multidisciplinary specialist assessment and treatment to people who have been diagnosed over the age of 16 years, with developmental-intellectual disability and a co-existing diagnosed mental health condition or suspected mental health condition (dual disability), many of whom will have complex presentations and challenging behaviours. In addition, this role will also involve providing in reach speech pathology services to the Transitional Support Unit (TSU) as required, which is located in Narre Warren South.  

We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Speech Pathologist to join us, working part-time ongoing, 0.8FTE. This role is also open to candidates wishing to pick up smaller FTE and job share this role.

 

A Day in the Life: 

  • This role works in collaboration with the clinical team and a range of internal and external stakeholders, to assist in improved outcomes for consumers with diagnosed or suspected mental illness and co-existing intellectual disability (dual disability).  

  • Opportunity to provide communication and swallowing assessments and interventions to consumers. 

  • Provide capacity building to a variety of stakeholders. 

  • This opportunity is a part-time ongoing role  

  • The position will also work in collaboration with other team members to consolidate the Model of Care, formulate clear service policy and guidelines and ensure the service is compliant with Quality & Safety, OHS and all other areas of reporting. 

 

About You 

To perform this secondment successfully, the following capabilities are required: 

  • A personal work ethic of reliability, performance, integrity, balance and honesty 

  • To be a team player 

  • Excellent people and clinical skills  

 

What you need: 

  • Bachelor or entry level Masters Speech Pathology Qualification 

  • Eligibility for certified practising membership of Speech Pathology Australia (SPA) 

  • Minimum seven years’ experience as a qualified Speech Pathologist.
