We are seeking a Senior Mental Health Clinician (Registered Mental Health Nurse) to join the Dandenong MHWL team on a full-time basis.

About the Role

  • Support colleagues including peer practitioners and community mental health practitioners
  • Conduct bio-psycho-social assessments and provide secondary consultation
  • Undertake clinical mental state and risk assessments
  • Facilitate escalation of care when required (e.g. PTS, ICT, CCT)
  • Deliver complex clinical care and brief therapeutic interventions (e.g. psychoeducation, coping strategies, single-session family work)
  • Provide clinical guidance and supervision to nursing staff
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Manager to develop nursing practices and training
  • Engage in cyclical clinical reviews and maintain accurate, timely documentation
  • Work in community settings and via telehealth

  • Participate in education, peer review, and quality improvement initiatives

About You

You are a compassionate and skilled clinician with:

  • Strong communication and leadership abilities
  • Experience in complex mental health assessments and interventions
  • A collaborative approach to working with diverse stakeholders
  • A commitment to continuous learning and service improvement

You will also have:

  • Registered with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia via the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and consent to ongoing registration checks via Monash Health’s electronic credentialing systems.
  • Registered Nurse who has obtained a sole qualification in Mental Health Nursing (has completed a specialist undergraduate psychiatric nursing program or Bachelor of Mental Health Nursing)

OR 

  • Registered Nurse with a Bachelor of Nursing qualification and has an academic post graduate qualification in mental nursing qualification (minimum Diploma level)
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or working towards obtaining one
  • Completion of or working towards a master's degree is highly desirable
  • Has a minimum of 5 years full time equivalent mental health post graduate qualification experience in mental health nursing.
