About Unit 2  

 

The Dandenong Unit 2 Inpatient Psychiatric Unit is a 25 bed unit that provides specialist mental health care for persons experiencing severe and/or complex mental health needs that cannot be managed in the community and requires intensive inpatient treatment.  The primary role of the Nurse Manager is to provide effective management of the day to day running of the Unit, including rostering, meeting quality standards and key performance indicators, managing recruitment and retention, fiscal management for the unit. This role ensures best nursing standards and evidence based practice in care delivery care for residents during their recovery journey.

 

About the Role 

 

The Nurse Manager (NM) (Grade 5) position of the Dandenong Unit 2 is a senior leadership role within the organisation, with responsibility for clinical and operational performance of the service area. The incumbent will assist the Operations Manager to provide outstanding and effective leadership, coordination and management of the service. The incumbent will have strong leadership and change management skills to implement and support new models of care that ensure streamlined and effective access to services, service delivery and coordinated care. This is a full-time ongoing role.

The Nurse Manager will be a role model of the core values and purpose of the organisation to ensure achievement of exceptional care and outstanding outcomes. The incumbent supports excellence in interdisciplinary clinical practice and clinical education, and promotes the development of other nurse professionals. The incumbent will develop strong relationships with key stakeholders both within Monash Health and externally. The position requires a broad understanding of the health care system, current and future workforce directions. The incumbent will possess the ability to think innovatively and strategically to meet challenges and demonstrate professional leadership to achieve all performance targets within budget and ensure the provision of high quality patient outcomes.

 

You also have

 

  • A minimum Post Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing – or completion of a specialist undergraduate psychiatric nursing program or specialist post basic course of training which led to registration as a Division 3 nurse.
  • A minimum of 5 years full time equivalent post graduate qualification in Mental Health Services
  • Demonstrated Management, Clinical Leadership & Service Delivery experience in a similar role 
  • Superior Time Management & Communication skills 
  • Genuine thirst for learning and open to further study 
  • Thrive working in an inclusive & collaborative team environment 
  • Proactive in supporting colleagues at all levels as well as mentoring others 
  • An advocate for the Monash Health values
