About the Role:

 

Join our team as a Nurse Manager in a full-time ongoing position to work at Acute Assessment Unit based at Dandenong Hospital. 

 

As manager of the AAU, you will be working collegially with other multidisciplinary leads to progress patient care.  Your role in maintaining clinical governance is essential; meeting with the interdisciplinary managers of your unit once a month to discuss operational and strategic directions. 

 

The Nurse Manager position is scheduled to work Monday to Friday. 

 

About Us:

The Acute Assessment Unit (AAU) is a 16-bed inpatient unit supporting ongoing management of pre- and post-surgical patients who requiring a maximum stay of 72hrs. Admissions to AAU includes, but are not limited to Plastic, Orthopaedic, General Surgical and Colorectal specialties.  Management of the unit assists with patient access and flow, focusing on elective and emergency pathways. 

 

About You: 
We are seeking an experienced Nurse Manager with strong managerial and clinical leadership skills. Relevant Post Graduate qualification and APHRA registration is required. 

 

As Nurse Manager, you would be responsible for providing access to safe and timely care. You will be accountable not only for the application of treatment plans, but for care coordination for consumers progressing from the acute environment back to the community. Your knowledge of community health services will be essential, and contribute to improved consumer satisfaction and best patient outcomes. 

 

Optimising professional practice for clinical staff to meet demands will be crucial.  Engagement in yearly educational planning will ensure staff maintain evidence-based practice.  It will provide a framework which directs career development for those wishing to progress professionally. Additionally, as Nurse Manager you will be key for ensuring care meets the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards (NSQSS) and responsible for implementing quality improvement activities to facilitate positive patient outcomes.  Financial accountability and proficiency in managing unit budgets is essential to ensure sustainable healthcare supports timely treatment activities.   

 

The responsibilities of the Nurse Manager will align with maintaining clinical care and employee engagement within Victorian Occupational Health and Safety legislations, compliance with the Safe Patient Care Act and Enterprise Agreement. You will be a conduit for communications; attending site and program meetings to integrate best practice and organisational procedures at the clinical forefront. 

 

As a key leader in the Surgical and Interventional Program for Monash Health, your experience and knowledge will be key to delivering point of out strategic priorities of-

As Nurse Manager, you will be a member of the site and organisational committees.  Your attendance to operational and program lead council will require you to critically analyse the pathways in which we deliver care.  You will be a key stakeholder in the review of guidelines and procedures, review of Serious Adverse Patient Safety Events (SAPSE) and proposed actions from identified gaps in practice to support best practice at point of delivery.
