About the Role: 

Join our team as Nurse Manager in a full-time position to work in Southwest 2 (SW2) - General Medicine, based at Dandenong Hospital. 
 

  • The Nurse Manager position is scheduled to work Monday to Friday.  

  • Full-Time (Fixed Term) covering parental leave.  

As interim manager of SW2, you will be working collegially with other multidisciplinary leads to progress patient care.  Your role in maintaining clinical governance is essential; meeting with the interdisciplinary managers of your unit once a month to discuss operational and strategic directions.  

About Us: 

Dandenong Hospital’s Southwest 2 is a 20-bed inpatient unit supporting ongoing management of General Medical patients. Admissions to SW2 includes, but is not limited to patients treated for chronic respiratory, cardiac and renal conditions or may have an acute or chronic cognitive impairment. Management of the unit assists with supporting timely access to care with the optimisation of patient outcomes through quality and safety interventions and project development.  

About You:  

We are seeking a senior leader with 2 years or more, of Associate Manager or above experience, who has demonstrated skills and qualities required to act in the interim Nurse Manager position with a current Australian Health Regulation Agency (AHPRA) registration. 

To ensure your success in this role you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge: 
 

  • Must have active experience in covering the Nurse Manager position with strong managerial and clinical leadership skills.  
  • Supporting clinical rostering according to the Safe Patient Care Act and Enterprise Agreement 
  • Held a clinical portfolio, demonstrating ability to meet the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) standards through analysing and implementing quality improvement activities 
  • Participated in site or organisational committee meetings 
  • Engage in processes which support risk mitigation and optimise the Occupational Health and Safety for our employees and consumers 
  • Had experience in recruitment and retention activities 

 

What You’ll Bring:  

As Nurse Manager, you would be responsible for providing access to safe and timely care. You will be accountable not only for the application of treatment plans, but for care coordination for consumers progressing from the acute environment back to the community. Your knowledge of community health services will be essential, and contribute to improved consumer satisfaction and best patient outcomes.  

  • Proven Nurse Manager or senior leadership experience 
     
  • Experience in recruitment, risk management, and governance processes 
     
  • Strong analytical, communication, and clinical leadership skills
