About the Role

 

Occupational Therapist - Grade 2 | Multiple Fixed Term Positions | Casey & Dandenong Hospitals

 

We have several fixed-term opportunities available for Grade 2 Occupational Therapists to join the multidisciplinary team (MDT) at Dandenong and Casey Hospitals. Two roles are within the acute bed-based program, covering General Medical and/or Surgical units. One position is an Annual Leave Reliever role, requiring the successful candidate to work across both acute and subacute wards at Dandenong and Casey Hospitals. Experienced Grade 1 Occupational Therapists are also encouraged to apply.

 

The Grade 2 Occupational Therapist is a leader on the wards and is an integral part of the supportive MDT that conducts high quality assessments and intervention helping achieve prompt discharges. Occupational Performance assessment and intervention is at the core of what we provide to patients to ensure robust discharges. This position requires highly developed communication and teamwork skills and an ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

 

Your clinical leadership will extend to supervising Grade 1 therapists and students, guiding them in their early career steps. You will support the Senior Clinician of the acute stream in evaluating and developing processes for the OT department and the acute stream and contribute to an evidence-based service delivery for OT services. This role works in conjuction with an experienced Senior Clinician and regular supervision is a key component of the role.

 

About You

 

You are an AHPRA registered Occupational Therapist with experience in bed-based acute service provision, along with the ability to: 

 

  • Implement clear communication and advocate for best care for the patient
  • Engage with patients in the participation of their treatment journey
  • Acknowledge responsibility for your own learning
  • Collaborate with others in the development of department resources and research pursuits
