About the Role

Join our team as an Occupational Therapist for the Young Persons Mental Health Service on a full time, fixed term basis until June 2026. This position will be based at Dandenong Hospital and will be a senior role in the team. 

 

As an Occupational Therapist, you'll provide tailored clinical care through outreach, telehealth, group, and clinic-based interventions. You'll lead assessments, design recovery-focused interventions, and help young people build life skills for independence. This role also involves clinical leadership, student supervision, and contributing to service development.

 

  • Conduct assessments and interventions for young people with psychosis-spectrum disorders.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, families, and community supports.
  • Lead and mentor junior staff, students, and new graduates.
  • Develop and implement group programs, contribute to research, and enhance service delivery.
  • Provide outreach services in the community.

About You

You are a compassionate and motivated Occupational Therapist with a strong interest in youth mental health and early intervention. You thrive in dynamic, multidisciplinary environments and are passionate about supporting young people to re-engage in meaningful activities and build functional life skills that foster recovery and independence.

You’ll also have:

  • Current AHPRA registration as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Experience in mental health, especially with young people or early psychosis.
  • Expertise in occupational assessment and intervention.
  • Strong leadership, team collaboration, and capacity to support junior staff.
  • Full driver’s license and ability to travel for outreach services.
  • Commitment to trauma-informed, recovery-oriented care.
