About the Mental Health and Wellbeing Hub
An exciting opportunity exists to be part of the new Mental Health and Wellbeing Local Services (‘Local’) which are being rolled out across Victoria as part of the ongoing reforms following the Victorian Royal Commission into Mental Health. The Dandenong Local will be an important new part of Victoria’s reformed mental health and wellbeing system, and Monash Health will play a key role as part of the partnership consortium.
The Dandenong Local consortium partners include Foundation House, Southeast Monash Legal Service, Thorne Harbour Health as well as agency lead Mind Australia. Locals will offer a range of mental health and community-based services that aim to support some of the most vulnerable members of the community in the Southeast of Melbourne. The vision of the Local service is to provide an easily accessible way to access support and treatment for people aged 25 years and over who are experiencing mental health concerns.
About the Role
As the Older Adult Consultant Psychiatrist at the Dandenong Mental Health and Wellbeing Local, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality, recovery-oriented psychiatric care within a multidisciplinary, community-based setting. Working in partnership with MIND Australia and consortium partners, you will provide clinical leadership, support integrated service delivery, and contribute to the development of a culturally responsive, person-centred model of care.
You will conduct primary and secondary consultations, participate in cyclical clinical reviews, and contribute to complex care planning. Your role includes jointly supervising a full-time psychiatry registrar and holding responsibility for clinical governance, ensuring that care is safe, evidence-based, and aligned with Monash Health and MIND’s governance frameworks.
This is a 0.2 EFT fixed term position until 30 June 2028 subject to extension.
