About the Role
An exciting opportunity to join Monash Health’s Youth and Family Program supporting the Forensic Mental Health in Community Health (FMHiCH) team as a full-time ongoing Grade 2 Psychologist. Based in Dandenong, the psychologist will provide evidence based psychological assessments and interventions As part of a multidisciplinary team providing an efficient, high quality and comprehensive service to adults aged 18 years and over on Corrections orders or parole. To participate in the FMHiCH program, clients must have identified low to mild mental health concerns or a mental health treatment condition on their order. Clients are referred directly from Corrections Victoria and if accepted, can remain with the program for the duration of their Corrections Order or as a parole condition. Clients are offered a range of health and social services including Exercise Physiology, Social Work, Speech Pathology, Psychiatric Nursing, Psychology services and an Aboriginal Worker. FMHiCH clients often come from complex backgrounds and suffer a number of comorbidities and are experiencing low to mild mental health issues and associated psychosocial difficulties as such psychologist will work with a diverse range of clients.
The psychologist provides outpatient clinic-based appointments and also participates in staff meetings, clinical reviews, and psychology peer meetings. The psychologist conducts risk assessment, safety planning, and appropriate referrals to crisis services when needed (e.g., Psychiatric Triage, 000, etc.). As the sole psychologist in the team you will offer secondary consultation advice and support to the team and referrers regarding collaborative formulation, treatment options, ethics, and referral pathway advice. Please note the psychologist does not treat perpetrators of sexual abuse and this role does not require the psychologist to provide court or forensic reports.
About Us
The Monash Health Community Youth and Family Program provides high-quality health services to vulnerable and marginalised people and their families within the community where they live, work and study. There are four teams that comprise the Youth and Family Program (1) Youth Services, (2) Forensic Mental Health in Community Health, (3) Sexual and Reproductive Health Services, and (4) Community Health Nurses in Multi-Disciplinary Centres. All services embrace patient-centred practices, evidence-based interventions and trauma-informed care.
This FMHiCH team is a multidisciplinary team consisting of social workers, psychiatric nurses, community development workers, a general practitioner, a psychologist and exercise physiotherapists. The FMHiCH provides high quality and comprehensive service to adults aged 18 years and over on Corrections orders or parole residing in the City Of Greater Dandenong, Casey and Cardinia areas. As a valued member of our Forensic Mental Health in Community Health team you will work as part of a committed, supportive, and vibrant team, within a unique multi-disciplinary setting. You will be supported to demonstrate and develop your clinical practice within our highly regarded service.
About You
To ensure your success in this role you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge:

Commitment to maintaining an advanced knowledge and skillset in evidence-based, best-practice psychological interventions for this client cohort, such as trauma informed care

Adhere to professional guidelines/codes, organisational policies/procedures and legislative requirements

Be able to participate in professional supervision/governance and professional development activities as directed by Discipline Senior or delegate

Provide and participate in a range of professional development activities, including initiating and contributing to staff training and development activities, quality improvement activities, and research and evaluation

Be committed to actively participate in reaching operational targets

Work closely and cooperatively with all Monash Health colleagues and staff

A willingness to embrace Monash Health ICARE values – Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Excellence
Qualifications/ registrations/ licences:
-
General registration as a psychologist with the Australian Health Professionals Regulation Authority (AHPRA)

Appropriate post-graduate qualifications (Masters or Doctoral degree) in Clinical or Forensic Psychology in an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) accredited course

Hold AHPRA endorsement in Clinical or Forensic psychology, or working towards one of these endorsements

Experience working in Mental Health/Forensic settings
