About the Role:
We have an exciting opportunity which has become available for a Registered Nurse to join The Day Treatment Centre at Dandenong Hospital.
- Part-Time Fixed Term Contract x2 (Covering Maternity leave)
As a Registered Nurse you will assist in managing day-to-day operations of a busy Day ward, and the Medical Infusion Unit. In this role you will work closely with the Associate Nurse Manager to ensure the efficient and effective flow of Theatre patients. No two days will be the same as you work within an established, friendly and supportive team environment, working closely together to care for the patients.
About Us:
The Day Treatment Centre at Dandenong Hospital is 12 bed unit open Monday to Saturday, mornings only on the weekend. We are a busy and exciting area that provides pre & post-operative care to day surgery patients of many different specialties. Within our Day Treatment Centre we also have the endoscopy suite and day medical unit and are offering the opportunity to work across all areas. The Endoscopy Suite is a 1 procedure room department open Monday to Friday. We are a fast paced exciting area that provides Endoscopic procedures to patients from multiple units including Colorectal, Gastroenterology and Respiratory.
About you:
As an experienced Registered Nurse, you deliver safe, patient-centred care with compassion and respect. You support a diverse patient group through daily functions, admissions, post-operative recovery, and complex discharge planning. Your clinical expertise extends to caring for patients following diagnostic imaging (angiogram, port insertion, nephrostomy), working within the infusion centre (blood transfusions, biopsies, drainage, and specialty infusions in gastroenterology, haematology, and oncology).
You bring strong communication, teamwork, and leadership skills, with the ability to manage a dynamic caseload. With resilience, time management, and critical thinking, you consistently lead by example in providing high-quality care.
You will also demonstrate:
- Previous experience with Day Surgery and/or Surgical Nursing
- Ability to multi task and think outside the box
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- dedicated to safe best practice and quality care
- enthusiastic, compassionate and able to work collaboratively
- Role model nursing excellence
- Inspire individuals and groups to achieve personal, organisational and service professional goals
- Promote a unit culture of optimism, innovation, encouragement, learning and creativity
- Demonstrate a commitment to organisational driven change
- Participate in developing others including orientation, preceptorship, mentoring and succession planning
- Clearly communicate clinical and behavioural expectations to staff
- Work collaboratively to support the Nurse Manager to provide effective, visible leadership and supervision across the team.
