Why Mental Health Nursing at Unit 2
Unit 2 is positioned within Monash Health’s Mental Health Services, and is currently a 25 bed inpatient unit specialising in the care of consumers aged 18-25 with mental illness. Unit 2’s focus on providing quality services to consumers and supporting access and flow have attracted many compliments from our client base, their families and carers.
Our Inpatient unit at Dandenong Hospital is truly a great place to work with opportunities to develop your career.
We have a 25 bed unit with capacity for up to eight intensive care area beds and another 17 designated low dependency beds thus supporting varying degrees of mental illness through comprehensive discharge planning and community engagement.
Consumers remain in the unit until they have recovered to the point where they can be treated effectively and safety in the community. Our work is supported by a specialised multidisciplinary team, with direct liaising with the comprehensive community mental health services.
Collaboratively, we provide a range of therapeutic interventions and programs available to consumers and their families, explore ways to better manage the illness, improve coping strategies and move towards Recovery.
