Senior Mental Health Clinician - Dandenong Acute Community Intervention Service

About the Role:
The Acute Community Intervention Service provides timely comprehensive assessment and deliver evidence-based treatment in the most appropriate setting at the ‘front end’ of service delivery. This includes short-term interventions and treatment for those whose illness can be readily managed, as well as seamless engagement with longer-term care for those with relapsing
Within a team structure, the clinician will assess in any setting persons referred to ACIS; to plan, implement, and review treatment and support; and to provide treatment and support in the community wherever possible. These services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The position will work a rotating roster over seven days per week, 24 hours per day, in accord with core service demands. This position will provide functions within CATT.
An exciting opportunity exists for a Senior Clinician (Registered Psychiatric Nurse Grade 44 / Social Worker Grade 3 / Occupational Therapist Grade 3) to join our friendly team. This role is a full-time ongoing role based at Dandenong Hospital. Part time options will also be considered.
About Us:
The Dandenong Acute Community Intervention Service (ACIS) includes the Crisis Assessment and Treatment Team (CATT) which provides a service to the Dandenong catchment area; the Emergency Psychiatric Service that operates from Dandenong Emergency Department; and Mental Health Hospital in the Home (HITH) that provides community based treatment within the Dandenong catchment area and MHaP (formerly PACER) operating from Moorabbin Police Station.
The Acute Community Intervention Service provides timely comprehensive assessment and deliver evidence-based treatment in the most appropriate setting at the ‘front end’ of service delivery. This includes short-term interventions and treatment for those whose illness can be readily managed, as well as seamless engagement with longer-term care for those with relapsing or enduring conditions. The priority is to help a person to remain in or return to their local community as quickly as possible, if assessed as clinically safe and appropriate given the circumstances. Interventions are tailored to individual consumer and family needs as well as circumstances

Mandatory requirements of the role:
Nursing:
- Must be a Registered Nurse and have registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA);
- Must have a Post Graduate Diploma in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing or completion of a specialist undergraduate psychiatric nursing program or specialist post basic course of training which previously led to registration as a Division 3 Nurse
- 3 years post registration experience in mental health preferably in an acute setting
- Current and satisfactory Police Check (must comply with Aged Care Act 1997 Accountability Amendment Principles 2012 if working in Aged Care settings)
- Current Working With Children Check as per Working with Children Act 2005
- Leadership qualification or working towards same desirable
Social Work:
- Bachelor of Social Work or Masters Social Work Qualifying OR Masters of Social Work, OR equivalent as assessed and approved by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
- Eligible for ordinary membership of AASW (http://www.aasw.asn.au/)
- Written evidence of eligibility for AASW membership for overseas qualifications is required.
Occupational therapy:
- Bachelor of Occupational Therapist or Bachelor of Applied Science (Occupational Therapy) or equivalent
- Current general registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) – Occupational Therapy, with no restrictions.
- 3 years post registration experience in mental health preferably in an acute setting.
General:
- Current Victorian Drivers Licence
- Sound clinical knowledge within acute settings
- Desirable Dual Diagnosis qualifications or experience
