About the Role

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Senior Mental Health Nurse to join the Recovery & Prevention of Psychosis Team (RAPPT) within the Infant, Child and Youth Area Mental Health & Wellbeing Service.

This senior role provides specialist assessment, intervention, consultation, and clinical leadership within a multidisciplinary team supporting young people experiencing first episode psychosis and complex mental health presentations. You will work across both outreach and clinic-based settings, providing recovery-oriented, trauma-informed care while supporting continuity of care, shared decision-making, and strong family engagement. In addition to direct clinical work, the role contributes to supervision, consultation, service development, and the ongoing strengthening of youth early psychosis pathways.

This is a full time, ongoing position. 

About Us

The Infant, Child and Youth Area Mental Health & Wellbeing Service provides specialist mental health care to infants, children, young people, and families across south-east Melbourne. Our services are integrated across community, inpatient, and specialist programs, with a strong focus on early intervention, recovery, and family-centred care. 

About You 

You are an experienced and highly capable mental health clinician with a strong interest in youth mental health and early psychosis. You bring a calm, confident and recovery-focused approach to complex presentations and are comfortable working in dynamic clinical environments that require sound judgement, flexibility, and initiative.

You are skilled in building strong therapeutic relationships while also providing clear clinical leadership and guidance within a multidisciplinary team. You value collaborative practice and are confident working with consumers, families, carers, and a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to support coordinated, holistic care. You will bring:

• Advanced skills in psychosocial assessment, formulation, risk assessment, and evidence-based intervention
• Experience working with young people (0–25) with complex mental health presentations, including crisis and assertive outreach
• Strong capability in care coordination, discharge planning, and navigating complex service systems
• Ability to provide clinical consultation, informal leadership, and support within multidisciplinary teams
• Excellent communication and engagement skills with consumers, families, and interagency partners
• Commitment to recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, and family-inclusive practice
• Reflective, quality-focused clinician with an interest in service development and improvement
