About the Role

 

We have multiple opportunities available for Grade 2 Social Workers to join the Intake & Brief Treatment Team within SECASA, based in Dandenong. We are open to both full time and part time options.

 

Reporting to the Team Leader, this role provides frontline, trauma-informed support to people who have experienced sexual assault and/or family violence, as well as children and young people who have engaged in harmful sexual behaviours.

 

The position involves completing evidence-based intake and initial assessments, delivering high-quality crisis counselling and brief interventions, and coordinating sexual assault crisis responses as part of a multidisciplinary team. You will also provide secondary consultation to internal and external professionals, contribute to community education and professional development, and support service innovation and sector reform.

 

About Us

 

The SECASA Intake and Brief Intervention Team is the central access point for all clinical and therapeutic services at SECASA. We manage the triage and prioritisation of incoming requests, provide initial assessments, and offer secondary consultation, information, and referral support. Our team delivers sexual assault crisis responses during business hours, conducts assessments for Child Protection and DFFH referrals, and provides brief, evidence-based interventions to support those seeking timely care.

 

 

About You

 

You are an early-career clinician with a genuine interest in supporting people impacted by sexual assault, family violence, or complex trauma. You bring foundational assessment and counselling skills, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to delivering safe, person-centred care.

 

You work well both independently and as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, and you communicate clearly and respectfully with clients, families, and professionals. You are motivated, reflective, and open to supervision and ongoing professional development. Your empathy, professionalism, and ability to stay organised in a dynamic environment help you contribute meaningfully to the work of the Intake and Brief Intervention Team.

 

Education & licence requirements include:

 

  • Bachelor of Social Work or Masters Social Work Qualifying OR Masters of Social Work, OR equivalent as assessed and approved by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)  
  • Eligible for ordinary membership of AASW (http://www.aasw.asn.au/) 
  • Written evidence of eligibility for AASW membership for overseas qualifications is required.  
  • Accredited Social Worker and/or Accredited Mental Health Social Worker: As approved by the AASW
