About the Role
An exciting opportunity is available for a Grade 3 Social Worker to join Monash Health’s Secure Extended Care Unit (SECU) at Dandenong Hospital in a full-time, ongoing position. Working within an experienced multidisciplinary team, you’ll provide specialist psychosocial assessment and intervention to consumers experiencing severe and persistent mental health challenges.
You’ll manage a varied caseload, working closely with consumers, families and carers to support recovery and address the broader social factors that can impact successful community transition. In this role, you will:
- Provide comprehensive psychosocial assessment and intervention
- Lead complex discharge planning and community transition
- Support consumers and families to navigate the NDIS and community services
- Respond to complex needs including housing, family violence and financial hardship
- Facilitate psychosocial group programs
- Provide supervision and support to junior Social Workers and students
About SECU
SECU is a 50-bed service at Dandenong Hospital providing medium to long-term treatment and rehabilitation for people experiencing severe and persistent mental illness. Our multidisciplinary team works alongside consumers to strengthen independence, support recovery and create pathways towards community living.
About You
You are an experienced Social Worker who brings strong clinical judgement, compassion and a commitment to recovery-oriented care. You will bring:
- A recognised Social Work qualification and eligibility for AASW membership
- Mental health or relevant complex clinical experience
- Strong psychosocial assessment, intervention and case management skills
- Knowledge of the NDIS and broader community service systems
- Confidence working with complex psychosocial needs
- Strong communication, advocacy and multidisciplinary collaboration skills
- An ability to supervise and support developing Social Workers and students
