We’re on the lookout for a dedicated Grade 3 Speech Pathologist to join our forward-thinking, multi-disciplinary team supporting adults diagnosed or suspected of having a mental illness and co-existing intellectual disability (dual disability). This is an opportunity to step into a specialised, highly rewarding role that goes far beyond traditional practice on a part-time ongoing basis (0.8 EFT / 60.8 hours per fortnight) in the Casey Adult Mental Health Program.

About Us:
The senior speech pathologist position sits within the Mental Health Intellectual Disability Initiative - Adults (MHIDI-A)/Stronger together program, located in Thomas Street, Dandenong. This team provides consultation, multidisciplinary specialist assessment and treatment to people who have been diagnosed over the age of 16 years, with developmental-intellectual disability and a co-existing diagnosed mental health condition or suspected mental health condition (dual disability), many of whom will have complex presentations and challenging behaviours. This position is 0.4 EFT.
In addition, 0.4 EFT of this role will also involve providing in reach speech pathology services to the Transitional Support Unit (TSU) as required, which is located in Narre Warren South. The TSU is a community residential program facility which focuses on consumers with both with a Mental illness and Intellectual Disability. The program will provide recovery orientated principles and practices which will offer an opportunity for clinical and personal recovery skill development. Assisting individuals for up to 12 months to improve their capacity in the areas of independent living, decision making and improved quality of life as they make their transition into independent or supported community living.

Mandatory requirements of the role:
- Bachelor or entry level Masters Speech Pathology Qualification
- Eligibility for certified practising membership of Speech Pathology Australia (SPA)
- Ideally, at least seven years’ experience as a qualified Speech Pathologist, ready to take on a challenging and rewarding role
