About the Role:

Are you ready to make a meaningful impact in mental health care while advancing your career? We’re looking for an experienced and passionate Speech Pathologist Grade 4 - Discipline Senior, Adult Mental Health to join our team on a part-time, ongoing basis (0.5 EFT / 38.4 hours per fortnight).

 

Based in Dandenong, this exciting leadership role supports speech pathologists working within the Adult and Older Adult Mental Health Program. You’ll be at the forefront of shaping exceptional care by guiding clinical standards and fostering professional growth across the team.

 

In this role, you’ll lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Speech Pathology services in line with Speech Pathology Australia standards and ethics. Collaborating with other Discipline Seniors, the Head of Profession, and the Director of Allied Health to promote excellence in practice and ensure consistent, high-quality care across the Mental Health Program.

 

You will be recognised as a clinical expert, using your teaching and research experience to extend your knowledge and inspire growth and excellence in speech pathology across the program and to ensure excellent patient care.

About Us:

The Mental Health Program serves consumers, their careers and families across the South-Eastern metropolitan region with bed-based, community and rehabilitation programs.

This role will work within our dynamic allied health leadership team in the mental health program. You will work closely with the allied health discipline seniors (Social work, Occupational Therapy and Dietetics) Speech Pathology Head of Profession, Discipline Senior and speech pathology colleagues. Further you will partner with Allied Health Educators, Allied Health Managers and Director to shape the allied health workforce in the mental health program. You are passionate to ensure that Speech Pathologists within the Mental Health Program, are qualified, and trained to provide effective care.

 

 

About You:

You have been developing your clinical, leadership and quality improvement skills and are an accomplished speech pathologist known for your clinical expertise and leadership, ready to take this next step in your career. You lead by example, thrive working in a dynamic environment and are truly passionate about delivering a high standard of evidence informed care to all patients, families and carers. You are an advocate of Monash Health’s Strategic Guiding Principles.

 

You Are:

  • A Speech Pathologist who demonstrates extensive specialist skills, knowledge and experience in implementing speech pathology theory into practice
  • A recognised people leader who facilitates the best in others, and collaborates thoughtfully holding a vision to promote best practice care for consumers their families and carers

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Successfully completed an accredited Australian entry level speech pathology qualification or successfully completed an Overseas Qualification Assessment with Speech Pathology Australia
  • Eligible for membership as a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist (CPSP) with Speech Pathology Australia
  • 7+ years post qualifying experience as a Speech Pathologist; preferably with experience in Adult Mental Health Services and/or related area
  • Desirable – Videofluoroscopy competency; post graduate qualification in research at Master or PhD level (or working towards same)
