About Us - MDC (Multi-Disciplinary Centres)
Multi-Disciplinary Centres play a vital role in supporting individuals impacted by sexual assault or family violence, as well as their non-offending family members. Working within a Multi-Disciplinary Centre (MDC) environment, our nurses collaborate closely with key stakeholders including Victoria Police, Child Protection, and specialist Counsellors to deliver compassionate, trauma-informed care.
There are eight MDCs across Victoria, with Monash Health operating centres in both Dandenong and Seaford.
About the Role
The State-wide Nurse Coordinator (SWNC) provides strategic leadership, clinical governance, and system development for nurses delivering frontline care within MDCs across the state. You will collaborate with key partners including the Department of Health, MDC services, and other stakeholders to strengthen the nursing workforce, drive service improvement, and enhance outcomes for victim survivors of sexual assault. This is a high-impact leadership role where you will:

Guide the organisational development and nursing framework for MDC services state-wide

Enable key priorities for the establishment and growth of the MDC Model of Care

Lead the development of skills, knowledge, and competencies of Community Health Nurses (CHNs) in MDCs

Collaborate with MDC partners to improve health outcomes and awareness of sexual assault for non-specialist health care providers

Provide secondary consultation, support, and clinical governance for MDC nurses
Facilitate professional development, state-wide forums, networking, and continuous improvement opportunities

Lead reporting to the Department of Health, demonstrating achievements, strategic progress, and case study insights
This is a Part Time, on-going position and will be primarily based in Melbourne’s South Eastern suburbs and will require travel across Victoria.
About You
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Community Health Nurse committed to improving the lives of individuals impacted by sexual assault. You will demonstrate strong clinical leadership and provide critical support to nurses working within Sexual Assault Multi-Disciplinary Centres (MDCs) across Victoria. To be successful in this role, you will also have:

Extensive nursing experience across a variety of contexts, with strong clinical assessment and care coordination skills

A genuine passion for supporting individuals impacted by sexual assault, with a commitment to trauma-informed, client-centred care

Demonstrated leadership and mentoring abilities to build the capability of MDC nurses across Victoria
-
The ability to foster effective partnerships with key stakeholders, including Police, Child Protection, Counsellors, and other support services

A broad understanding of the social determinants of health and professional standards in community health nursing
Mandatory Requirements:
-
Registered Nurse (Division 1) with current AHPRA registration
-
Postgraduate qualifications in Public Health, Nursing, or Management
-
Experience supporting individuals impacted by sexual assault and/or family violence
-
High-level skills in leadership, service development, and collaboration within complex health systems
-
Advanced abilities in communication, presentation, and negotiation
-
Proven experience in program management, facilitating education, and providing clinical supervision
-
Sound understanding of Trauma-Informed Care principles
-
Willingness to travel state-wide, with flexibility for occasional after-hours work
Master’s qualification in Public Health, Nursing, or Management & Formal education or experience in clinical supervision and workforce training are also highly desirable.
