About the Role
Monash Health is seeking an experienced and passionate Psychiatrist to lead our Eating Disorders Unit as Unit Director within the Mental Health Program. This is an exciting opportunity to provide clinical, professional, and academic leadership while shaping the future of eating disorder services within Victoria’s largest health service. This role may also include an adjunct appointment with Monash University’s Department of Psychiatry with the level depending on qualifications. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching and research ensuring Monash Health remains a learning institution that delivers exemplary patient care. Reporting to the Service Director, the Unit Director is responsible for the clinical governance, leadership, and strategic direction of Eating Disorders services. This includes:

Inpatient services at Dandenong

Day Program services
-
Community outpatient services
Working collaboratively with senior leaders, the Unit Director will drive innovation, service improvement, and workforce development to ensure the highest quality of patient care.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide clinical leadership and ensure a consultant-led model of care.

Lead by example with active involvement in patient care.

Support and develop teaching, research, education, and training programs.

Oversee clinical governance and contribute to service development.

Ensure high-quality, multidisciplinary teamwork within the Eating Disorders service.

Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to enhance patient care and workforce capacity.

Manage financial responsibilities within the allocated budget and contribute to cost-effective service delivery.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will be a senior Psychiatrist with demonstrated leadership experience in eating disorders or mental health services. You will have a strong academic background, a commitment to teaching and research, and the ability to drive service innovation and improvement.
Essential Criteria:

Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP)

Specialist registration with AHPRA
-
Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Consultant Psychiatrist

Demonstrated leadership experience in a mental health setting

Strong commitment to education, training, and research

Working with Children Check
Desirable Criteria:

A higher research degree (PhD) or equivalent research achievements

Experience in service development and quality improvement
