About the Role:
Doveton Community Care Unit Doveton CCU is looking for a Grade 3 Occupational Therapist for a full-time ongoing role.
The Grade 2/3 Occupational Therapist uses specialist knowledge and skills to conduct client assessment and intervention independently, incorporating remedial, compensatory, educational and preventative strategies to achieve optimal evidence-based consumer care and to support consumer health and wellbeing through occupation and consideration of the person and their environment.
About Us:
Doveton Community Care Unit Doveton CCU provides community residential psychosocial rehabilitation to consumers (18-64 years old) who have a serious mental illness and associated psychosocial limitations. Doveton CCU provides a home-like environment where consumers can continue their recovery from mental illness and develop their skills and capacity for independent living in order to facilitate a transition to the community.
Doveton CCU offers an initial four week residential assessment that may be followed by a medium-term psychosocial rehabilitation program based on individual needs. Referral sources predominantly include Monash Health community mental health teams (CCTs and MSTTs), adult acute inpatient psychiatric units, and the secure extended care unit (SECU). The Occupational Therapist will work as part of the multi-disciplinary team and will provide specialist skills to residents of the CCU.
About You:
To ensure your success in this role you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge:
- Demonstrated specialised clinical knowledge, skills and significant experience in the provision of the occupational therapy services stream of care outlined in the roles statement, including assessment, intervention, case management and discharge planning across the continuum of care
- Demonstrates and applies a critical understanding of relevant and contemporary occupational therapy theory, practice knowledge and evidence in clinical practice
- Demonstrates an understanding of the relationship between health, wellbeing and human occupation and the factors influencing health, wellbeing and occupations, ensuring their practice is sensitive and client-centred
- A well-developed understanding of and ability to navigate complex service systems including (but not limited to) My Aged Care, State-wide Equipment Program, National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), Mental Health and the recovery model is essential
- Demonstrated initiative and involvement in quality improvement and/ or research projects
- Demonstrated experience in design and delivery of professional education and development, utilising best practice education principles
- Demonstrated emerging leadership skills
Mandatory requirements of the role - qualifications, licences, memberships,
- Bachelor of Occupational Therapist or Bachelor of Applied Science (Occupational Therapy) or equivalent
- Current general registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) – Occupational Therapy, with no restrictions (cannot have a non-practising registration)
- Driver licences
