About the Role

 

The Psychiatric Triage Service (PTS) provides a 24‑hour, seven‑day telephone assessment and response service, supporting access to Monash Health Mental Health Services.  

This is an onsite role, operating from one of Monash Health's campuses. 

 

PTS is seeking an RPN3, up to 0.6FTE until Jan 2027.

 

The service: 

  • Supports adult consumers aged 18–64 years
  • Provides after‑hours support for consumers under 18 and 65 years and older 

 

As a PTS Clinician, you will: 

  • Undertake comprehensive preliminary mental health assessments 
  • Determine the presence, urgency, and nature of mental health concerns 
  • Coordinate timely responses by:  
  • Referring internally to specialist mental health services 
  • Linking consumers with external agencies 
  • Providing clinical advice, support, and risk management guidance

About You 

 

You are an experienced mental health clinician with strong clinical expertise, sound judgement, and the ability to work confidently in complex situations. You communicate effectively, build strong professional relationships, and contribute positively to team culture. 

 

You bring: 

  • Extensive experience managing complex mental health presentations 
  • A strong working knowledge of mental health legislation, policy, and evidence‑based practice 
  • Excellent organisational and decision‑making skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities 
  • A commitment to delivering recovery‑oriented, trauma‑informed care 
  • The ability to work autonomously while contributing to a supportive, multidisciplinary team 

 

Qualifications & Registration 

 

To be successful, you will have: 

  • A relevant qualification (as outlined in the position description)
  • A demonstrated commitment to working in mental health, including:  
  • Postgraduate qualification in Mental Health (as outlined in the position description) 
  • Experience or understanding of Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) and Forensic Mental Health (highly regarded) 
  • Demonstrated experience in an inpatient unit or similar acute mental health setting 
  • Current AHPRA registration (where applicable)
