About the Role
This is a rare opportunity to lead a team of ten Health and Safety professionals. Reporting to the Director, Health, Safety and Wellbeing, you’ll be accountable for strengthening organisational capability in identifying and mitigating risk, to minimise workplace injury and enhance employees’ health. Further, you’ll relish the chance to coach and mentor team members to ensure the delivery of high-value, practical support to operational teams in the health service.
In this varied role, your key result areas will include:

Timely development, delivery and implementation of Health and Safety strategy action plans, projects and programs

Achievement, without exception, of relevant governance, regulatory and legislative compliance across the portfolio

Ensuring a positive, trusted and sustained relationship is built with the Regulator
-
Demonstrated improvement in risk management capability across the organisation
-
Active involvement in developing a positive safety culture
Based in Cheltenham, the role has organisation-wide reach and accordingly travel across Monash Health will be required. Flexible work arrangements are also available.
About You
Your passion for workplace safety is palpable and you relish the chance to coach, mentor and support your team members to realise their full potential. Your exemplary written and verbal communication skills, influencing and negotiation capability equip you well as a senior safety leader. You are both comfortable and credible working at senior management and executive level and can point to a track record of success in implementing organisation-wide Health and Safety plans that have delivered demonstrated improvements.
What you need:

Demonstrated ability to interpret relevant legislation and provide considered, sound advice

Evidence of applying high-level conceptual and analytical skills in creative problem-solving
-
Strong interest and experience in effectively managing change initiatives across a range of sites and disciplines
-
Tertiary qualifications in Workplace Health and Safety or related
-
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
-
Current motor vehicle driver’s licence
