Lead the training and development that empowers frontline security teams to respond with confidence and care.
About Security Services
Security Services is part of the Hospitals and Sites division and has input across all areas of the organisation. The Security Services program is broken into two distinct area - Operations and Systems. This role will predominantly work with the operations area and will report to the Security Operations Manager. The Security team consists of approximately 120 positions across 13 sites including 8 hospitals and a number of smaller community sites with both inpatient and out patient services.
We now have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Security Educator to influence training, compliance and operational readiness across a large and diverse health network on an-ongoing, part time basis (4 Days per week). This newly created position within the Security team is an opportunity to shape and develop the future of security education at Monash Health
About the Position
The Security Educator plays a key role in strengthening the capability, confidence and operational readiness of Monash Health’s Security Services team. Responsible for delivering engaging and high-quality training across all levels of the service, this role identifies learning gaps and develops practical education solutions that support frontline security staff in a complex healthcare environment.
Working across multiple sites, the role supports the full employee lifecycle including onboarding, ongoing development and return to work programs, ensuring staff are equipped, supported and prepared to perform at their best. The position also contributes to broader operational priorities including emergency response preparedness, workforce capability, resource management, compliance and continuous improvement.
As part of your responsibilities, you will also:
- Deliver security induction, onboarding and ongoing training programs for new and existing employees.
- Foster a culture of security awareness, professionalism, and accountability across the organisation.
- Ensure staff understand and comply with organisational policies, procedures, and security-specific operational requirements.
- Support compliance with relevant legislation, privacy obligations, and the appropriate use of security technologies including CCTV, body-worn cameras and ID systems.
- Develop and implement a strategic security learning framework, including measurable KPIs and annual education plans.
- Design, maintain and enhance engaging security training content within the Learning Management System (LMS)
- Provide expert advice and support in the review and development of security policies, procedures and best practice standards.
- Contribute to the growth, capability, and profile of Security Services across Monash Health
- Deliver training across a 24/7 operational workforce, including travel between sites and flexibility to work across varying shifts as required.
About You
You are an experienced security professional with a strong operational background and a passion for developing people and improving service capability. With a minimum of three years’ experience in operational security, ideally within a healthcare environment, you bring a sound understanding of the challenges involved in maintaining safety across complex and fast-paced settings.
You will also have strong practical capability in conflict management, including conflict resolution and negotiation, de-escalation techniques, and a demonstrated ability to safely control violent or aggressive persons.
- High-level customer service skills with a demonstrated customer focus and ability to build positive relationships with employees, visitors, and patients.
- Excellent oral and written communication, negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to display empathy and understanding within a healthcare environment.
You will be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, and consistently follow organisational policies, procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures with an initiative-taking, high-quality work ethic. You will also demonstrate sound knowledge and application of conflict resolution techniques.
Mandatory requirements of the role – qualifications, licences, memberships:
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or equivalent)
- Certificate III in Security Operations (Unarmed Guarding and Crowd Control) obtained prior to January 2010, or CPP07 Certificate II in Security Operations (Unarmed Guard and Crowd Control) obtained after January 2010
- Current Victorian Security Guard and Crowd Controller Licence
- Current Victorian Driver’s Licence (open or green P-plates only)
- Working With Children's Check (WWCC)
