About the Role
Our Social Work Department has multiple opportunities available for New Graduate/Grade 1 Social Workers, to join our Graduate Social Work Rotation Program. These positions offer a full time, fixed term employment opportunity from January 2026 to January 2028, where you will join us working across various sites, both in acute and subacute hospital settings. You will have the opportunity to join a dynamic social work and multi-disciplinary team where you will have a pivotal role in contributing to a positive team culture.
As a New Graduate/Grade 1 Social Worker you will be provided with an opportunity to be challenged plus demonstrate your skills including:
- Working with people from a range of diverse backgrounds
- Complete complex psychosocial assessments,
- Development of patient centred care plans and complex discharges.
You will be a member of a dynamic and supportive Social Work and Allied Health team working in a collaborative model of care across Monash Health. The position works closely with the internal and external stakeholders to provide care founded on current evidence-based practice for patients accessing care through the inpatient and community based setting.
About You
You are an enthusiastic and motivated new graduate Social Worker who is passionate about beginning your career in a supportive and dynamic healthcare setting. You have a genuine interest in health care and are committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of patients through safe, high-quality, and person-centred care.
Your hardworking and adaptable nature allows you to respond effectively to changing priorities and complex situations. You bring strong communication and interpersonal skills, along with a compassionate, team-focused approach to your work. With a positive attitude and a commitment to continuous learning, you are motivated to contribute to service improvement, take ownership of key responsibilities, and uphold the highest standards of ethical and professional practice in social work.
Qualification and licence requirements include:
- Bachelor Social Work or Master Social Work (Qualifying)
- Current driver’s licence
- Eligible for AASW membership including continuing professional education
