About the Role:
Monash Health's Central Production Kitchen (CPK) operates three kitchens: two at the Kingston Centre, Cheltenham and one at Moorabbin Hospital.
Join our team as a Trade Cook based at the Kingston Centre, Cheltenham in a full time or part time ongoing role, 8.0 hours a day, Monday to Friday.
All shifts are eight hours and have a rostered start of either 6:30am or 8am.
Working as part of the CPK team, the main focus for the team is delivering an exceptional patient meal experience. The Trade Cooks are responsible for the production of meals providing food and nutrition to our patients.
Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Manage the preparation of meals in a timely manner, following standard recipes
- Manage the cleaning of kitchen and equipment
- Deliver, distribute and collect al smartpak meal requirements
- Ensure all Department of Health Food Service standards are achieved.
- Report and maintain a comprehensive Preventative Maintenance Program.
- Completion of food safety documentation in a timely manner

Being part of the broader Support Services team we are responsible for a range of essential non-clinical services that help our hospitals run. We provide food services, Central Production Kitchen, patient support, porters, cleaning, linen, pest control, waste management, car parking, hygiene services and some retail services.
About You:
To ensure your success in this role you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge:
- Current Food Safety qualification (essential)
- Relevant food services certificate (minimum SITXFSA001 – Use hygienic practices for food safety) (essential)
- Trade qualification – Commercial Cookery (essential)
- Qualification in HACCP procedures and quality management systems (essential)
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills
- Ability to work proactively with a cohesive team and on your own to complete daily tasks
- Time management skills and the ability to prioritise tasks
- Takes pride in your work with attention to detail
- A strong understanding of food safety
- Ability to undertake physical work including lifting, carrying and manual handling
- Basic to moderate computer skills
- Certificate IV in Hospitality (desirable)
- A high standard of demonstrated experience in customer services and/or food services from a health or hospitality environment (desirable)
