Occupational Therapist Grade 3 - Casey Intensive Care Packages (ICP)

We are seeking a full time ongoing position and a part time fixed Occupational Therapy position, preferable to be grade 3, will consider a grade 2 with experience to come work in the Casey/ Cardinia catchment. This roll is for those who are seeking a community, discipline specific role on an assertive, outreach team. 

The ICP team is a small multidisciplinary team, working therapeutically with consumers who are wanting support. You will work independently with consumers both in their homes and in the community, as well as with the team - which includes, Clinical Psychology, Consumer Peer Support, Senior Social Work and Dual Diagnosis. 

You will be supported by the manager of the team, who is an Occupational Therapist and as there is 1.6 EFT being advertised, there would be Occupational Therapists recruited.

 

Our Service

The Casey Area Mental Health Service is led by an innovative and supportive leadership team that seeks to provide an innovative and recovery-based model of mental health care that will continue to develop with our growing community in the Southeast growth corridor. The Intensive Care Packages Team model of care is dynamic and supports people in an assertive, intensive outreach model of care. We provide community based support to people with mental health issues, requiring specialist mental health treatment that is not met by generic case management or other services. This service is aimed at providing discipline specific support and treatment for consumers with a severe/persistent mental illness aged 25 to 65 years.

We are seeking a new Occupational Therapist to join our team in Pakenham, Monday to Friday. Your hours of work within the business day can be flexible, there are no night or weekend shifts. This position is open to an experienced Grade 3 Occupational Therapist or open to a Grade 2 who will be well supported by the Team Leader. There is opportunity for growth and development and extensive experience.

Our team is small and innovative and is best suited to an Occupational Therapist that is wanting to work in people’s home and in the community, has a passion to support people that are needing and wanting the support and who will be working individually and running group programs. The Intensive Care Packages team is aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of adults with access to a one stop service for mental health care, health and wellbeing support for the whole family.

 

About the Role

 

The Occupational Therapist is an integral part of the Mental Health Clinicians team, the Occupational Therapist will provide: 

  • Assessing and treating adults 25 - 65 with mental health difficulties. This Occupational Therapist will have training, qualifications and experience in assessing and treating adults who have difficulties with their mental health and occupational functioning including specific assessment of an individual’s functional skills, motivation and processing skills. They will provide discipline specific assessment, formulation, recommendations and intervention.

This position has funded training opportunities and include family centred practice, trauma informed care and assessments. 

 

About You

To ensure your success in this role, you will have the following demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge: 

  • Current general registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) – Occupational Therapy, with no restrictions
  • You will have experience in a mental health service and/or extensive experience in mental health settings
  • Understanding of current, relevant theory, practice knowledge and evidence in clinical practice 
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary assessment and treatment group setting 
  • Dedicated to safe best practice and quality care  
  • Committed to the delivery of patient centred care and patient advocacy  
  • Australian working rights  
  • Current Drivers Licence
