About the Role  

The Sourcing Specialist is responsible for efficiently guiding Monash Health stakeholders and vendors through the source to pay process, ensuring adherence to policy and achievement of the objectives approved in the procurement plan. As a Sourcing specialist you will source, establish, coordinate, and manage new and existing suppliers, review contracts and negotiate terms for supplier engagement on a range of projects. You will get to work with project delivery teams on tenders, develop robust procurement plans supporting category management frameworks and implement strategic sourcing approaches. Key result areas include:

  • Efficient and agile sourcing of tactical goods and services 
  • Advising the business units on procurement policies, procedures, and commercial matters 
  • Efficient management of contract register 
  • Supporting the Category Management team in delivering strategic initiatives 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead end to end sourcing activities across range of categories including directs and in directs 
  • Utilise leading practice tools and process to conduct appropriate market analysis, spend analysis and stakeholder consultation to develop effective go to market strategies. 
  • Execute sourcing events according to an approved procurement plan, ensuring adherence to the policies and procedures. 
  • Maintain focus on probity in the source to contract process. 
  • Manage tender steering teams, project teams and key stakeholders during the tender process 
  • Collaborate with the Monash Health Legal team at appropriate points in the source to contract process to deliver high quality contracts. 
  • Draft contract amendments and variations in consultation with business units and other stakeholders 
  • Maintain the Centralised Contracts Register, ensuring the data collated is accurate and complete 
  • Support the implementation of e-Procurement related systems 
  • Support the planning process to develop the Monash Health Annual Procurement Plan. 
  • Aid the continuous improvement of Monash Health’s systems and processes 
  • Represent Monash health through membership and involvement with Health Share Victoria 

 

About You

Qualifications/registrations/licences (italics indicate desirable):

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in business or a technical field 
  • Membership of Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply or other equivalent professional body (Associate or above) 
  • Sound understanding of procurement and supply chain principles and business financials 

Technical skills/knowledge/experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in sourcing goods and services across multiple categories 
  • Capability to author high quality procurement plans, business reports and other decision making 
  • documentation. 
  • Experience in developing high quality RFX documentation and managing tenders with appropriate 
  • consideration given to probity, commercial and functional outcomes. 
  • Understanding of contracting principles and commercial terms 
  • Analytical and conceptual skills, with particular experience in assessment of complex financial and nonfinancial elements and total value. 
  • Demonstrable experience in project management, prioritisation and organisation skills including the ability to work unsupervised on multiple projects. 
  • Experience in consultation, negotiation and customer relationship management skills. 
  • Experience in leading, guiding, persuading and consulting with internal stakeholders

Other position requirements: 

  • As we support a culture of safety through employee immunisation, there must be documentation 
  • provided confirming completed immunisation on employment at Monash Health 
  • Current and satisfactory Police Check (must also comply with Aged Care Act 1997 Accountability 
  • Amendment Principles 2012 if working in Aged Care setting) 
  • Current and satisfactory Working with Children Check. 
  • Applicants who are new to Monash Health will be required to enter into an Employment Agreement before commencement 
  • Applicants who are new to Monash Health must provide evidence of immunisation before they can receive an offer of employment
