About the Role
We have multiple opportunities available for Grade 2 Counsellor/Advocates to join our SECASA team. These positions are open to Social Work & Psychology disciplines and will be based at the SECASA Seaford site, with some travel to other sites as required.
- Full Time (1 EFT), ongoing position
- Part Time (0.8 EFT), fixed term position, until September 2028
- Part Time (0.6 EFT), fixed term position, until August 2027 (Parental Leave)
In this role, you will deliver high-quality, trauma-informed counselling and therapeutic interventions to individuals impacted by sexual assault and/or family violence. Your practice will be grounded in principles of intersectionality, gender equality, anti-oppression, and a human rights-based approach.
Working collaboratively with clients, their families, and key stakeholders, you will provide holistic, person-centred care within the scope of relevant legislation and professional standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering trauma-focused counselling and therapeutic support
- Conducting evidence-based assessments, case formulation, goal setting, and crisis response
- Working in partnership with clients and external agencies to assess risk and advocate for safety and wellbeing
- Participating in the After-Hours roster
About Us
The South Eastern Centre Against Sexual Assault and Family Violence (SECASA FV) is a specialist sexual assault and family violence service. As the largest family violence and sexual assault service provider across the South-East Metropolitan Melbourne, the service offers time limited therapeutic interventions and counselling following sexual assault and/or family violence, to victim/survivors and other affected family members.
The SECASA service also has responsibility for the DFFH Southern and Bayside regions.
About You
You are a highly skilled clinician with strong experience supporting individuals affected by sexual assault and family violence, including children. You will bring expertise in trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and collaborative practice with other professionals to enhance client safety and wellbeing.
You would be described as someone with their clear communication, strong organisational skills, and deep understanding of relevant legislation and ethical standards, demonstrating a strong commitment to continuous professional development.
You key strengths will include:
- Crisis intervention skills necessary for supporting people who have experienced sexual assault and/or family violence
- Experience working collaboratively with other professionals and agencies to enhance wellbeing and safety for clients
- Excellent team work, interpersonal and communication skills, including building trust and rapport with colleagues and external agencies
- Knowledge of MARAM, FVIS, CIS, and relevant legal/ethical standards
