About the Department / Program  

The Monash Health Gender Clinic is Australia’s oldest gender service and a state-wide service providing client-centred care to transgender, gender diverse and non-binary (TGDNB) people.  

The Gender Clinic supports people through their gender affirmation journey by providing:  

• A safe and supportive environment to explore gender identity and transition options.  

• Assessments for gender-affirming medical care in line with best-practice guidelines.  

• Support to address physical and mental health needs that may impact wellbeing and transition.  

• Access to endocrinology, voice training and gender-affirming laser hair removal. 

• Referrals to appropriate health, social, community and peer support services.  

• Support for private surgeries where appropriate.  

• Education for health professionals, community and advocacy groups. 

The program has longstanding partnerships with specialist services, universities and international stakeholders to advance understanding of gender diversity and reduce barriers to trans-affirming care. 

You will be part of a multidisciplinary team including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, speech pathologists, administration, research, project and peer workers.  

About the Role  

Join the Monash Health Gender Clinic as a Grade 3 Speech Pathologist on a Part-Time (0.6 EFT, 3 days per week), ongoing basis, based at the Victorian Pride Centre in St Kilda.  

Working with the Operations Manager and broader Gender Clinic team, you will:  

• Provide evidence-based, gender-affirming voice assessment and intervention. 

• Develop individualised treatment plans that support consumer goals and wellbeing.  

• Provide a safe, inclusive and supportive experience for consumers.  

• Provide clinical advice and supervision to junior and graduate speech pathologists, including students.  

• Contribute to education, service development and best-practice care.  

• Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team and relevant health and community services.  

About You  

To be successful in this healthcare role, you will bring:  

• Demonstrated experience providing gender-affirming voice services, including assessment, intervention and care planning.  

• Experience providing clinical supervision to junior, graduate and student speech pathologists.  

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with consumers, colleagues and external services.  

• Eligibility for membership with Speech Pathology Australia.  

• Ability to meet required employment screening requirements, including a National Police Check, Employee Working with Children Check (WWCC) and, where relevant, Aged Care Worker Screening and NDIS Worker Screening. 

Desirable:  

• Experience providing speech pathology services within mental health settings.  

• Knowledge and experience in voice and swallowing assessment and management.  

• Knowledge of neurodiversity-affirming practice, including reasonable adjustments to support participation and engagement.
